To Tarry Or Not To Tarry?

To Tarry Or Not To Tarry?
Sunday’s Message 11/13/2012: “to ‘TARRY’ or not to ‘TARRY’” - ???
If we desire some evidence of the Holy Ghost in our lives, let’s look at the life of one who had the Holy Spirit without measure - our Lord Jesus Christ. Though He learned obedience by the things which He suffered (Hebrews 5:8), there were three things which governed what He did and how He did it.
First, He did Only those things which the Father showed Him (John 5:19).
Second, He did Only those things that pleased the Father (John 8:29);
Thirdly, His meat (Reason for Living) was to do the will of Him that sent Him (John 5:30).
Let’s ask ourselves these questions:
1. Do we Only do those things which God shows us (in His Word)?
2. Do we do Only those things which please the Father?
3. Do we live Only to do His will, according to His Word?

Authentic Christianity

Who and What Is a True Christian?

Sundays Message 10/24/12:

The world has various ideas about who and what a “Christian” is or isn’t.  Some think a Christian is anyone born into a Christian-professing family and christened by a priest or minister.  Others say a Christian is one who has “given his heart to the Lord” and is“born again”—or perhaps one who simply claims to be a Christian.
Is it possible, however, for someone to live and die assuming that he or she is a Christianonly to find out in the Judgment that God never recognized their brand of “Christianity”?
Christ, in fact, warned of that very possibility in Matt. 7:21-23: Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.  Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’  And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew youdepart from Meyou who practice lawlessness!’” NKJV
BRING & INVITE “ALL” you Care about!
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” (Revelation 2:7)
“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, Who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (I Tim 2:3-5)

My help cometh from the Lord

My help cometh from the Lord

“My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.” Who helps his people out of the hands of all their enemies, and out of all their troubles and afflictions; he helps them in the performance of duty, in the exercise of grace, in bearing the cross, in fighting the Lord’s battles, and on in their journey; he helps them to all blessings, temporal and spiritual; to all needful supplies of grace here, and glory hereafter; and this help he gives is quick and present, suitable and seasonable, is sufficient, and sometimes with, and sometimes without means; and they have great encouragement to expect it from him, since he is able to give it, being the Maker of heaven and earth; for what is it that he cannot do?

Full Armor Of God

Full Armor Of God
Ephesians 6 :We are to put on the full armor of God to fight and win the spiritual war.

Satan is a deceiver and a destroyer; he deceives in order to destroy. A part of his deception is to have us believe he is not at work opposing our pursuit of righteousness. To combat his efforts, we must do several things. First, recognize that we must “be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might”(v. 10), not in our own strength. Second, we must ”put on the whole armor of God” (v. 11). Each piece described in verses 14-17 must be in place daily. Third, we must pray at all times Òin the SpiritÓ (v. 18). And finally, having done all that, we must stand firm without fear, knowing we are secure (v. 13).
Because the Lord has promised to fight for us, we can praise Him!
Praise the Lord!
For it is good to sing praises to our God;
For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.
The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
He gathers together the outcasts of Israel.
He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds.
He counts the number of the stars;
He calls them all by name.
Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;
His understanding is infinite. . . .
The Lord takes pleasure in those who fear Him,
In those who hope in His mercy. . . .
He has not dealt thus with any nation;
And as for His judgments, they have not known them.
Praise the Lord! (Psalm 147:1-5, 11, 20).
SHALOM (PEACE)

Gabby Douglas Tweets Bible Verses

Gabby Douglas Tweets Bible Verses
By Jennifer Riley , Christian Post Reporter

Gymnastics’ newest cover girl Gabby Douglas may be fielding tweets from A-list celebrities ranging from Oprah to Justin Bieber (and the greatest Olympian of all time Michael Phelps, who said he watched her from the pool!), but before the tweets from the “who’s who” of Hollywood were tweets of Bible verses and confessions of faith.

Douglas’ latest Bible verse tweet occurred on Friday, the day after her historic Olympic win making her the first African-American and person of color to win the women’s gymnastics all-around. She tweeted a verse from Romans 12:19: “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord’” (ESV).

The biblically-inspired tweet came a day after she thanked God in front of millions of viewers Thursday for her second Olympic gold medal during an NBC interview: “And I give all the glory to God. It’s kind of a win-win situation. The glory goes up to Him and the blessings fall down on me,” she said.

Douglas, 16, comes from a devout Christian family. The full name of the 4’11 bubbly teenager, dubbed the “Flying Squirrel” for her soaring on the uneven bars, is Gabrielle Christina Victoria Douglas. “Her name means, ‘God’s abled-bodied one.’ As you can see, she has lived up to her name,” mother Natalie Hawkins explained to the Los Angeles Times back in June.

And God’s abled-body she is. She was the underdog going into the women’s gymnastics individual all-around event, not even expected to qualify. But she outscored 2011 World Champion and fellow U.S. teammate Jordyn Wieber and made the cut to compete. Then she outshined teammate Aly Reisman, who came in fourth during the women’s all-around. Russia’s Victoria Komova earned the silver and compatriot Aliya Mustafina the bronze.

Amid the intense pressure and spotlight, Douglas has leaned on Scripture and her Christian faith to keep things in perspective. On Friday, she also tweeted, “Thank you guys for everything! I am SO grateful God has truly blessed me! Remember to ALWAYS give him the glory for he is GREAT!

And a day before the U.S. team won gold, Douglas tweeted July 30: “I believe in God. He is the secret of my success. He gives people talent.” And on July 28, she tweeted a verse from Joshua 1:9: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Christian rapper Lecrae – who happens to be one of the favorite music artists of another Christian athlete, Jeremy Lin – sent a tweet to Douglas on August 2: “@gabrielledoug congrats. Glad to hear you meditated on scripture I know how distracting the Village can be.”

Christian recording artist Natalie Grant also tweeted an encouraging message to Douglas in late July.

Douglas is scheduled to be featured on Corn Flakes cereal boxes and is being offered many endorsement deals, TV appearances, and magazine interviews after her Olympic wins.

The Lord gives strength to those who wait on Him

The Lord gives strength to those who wait on Him

Isaiah 40: The Lord gives strength to those who wait on Him.

God has given us the Christian family as a picture of the relationship between Him and His children. We are given earthly fathers, that we
might more fully understand our heavenly Father. Just as an earthly father takes no delight in disciplining his children, so our heavenly Father takes no delight in disciplining His children. Hear the tenderness in these words: “Comfort, yes, comfort My people!” (v. 1). God tenderly loves us and takes no pleasure in our pain, although He desires our spiritual growth as a result.
Since the earthly family pictures the heavenly family, praise the Lord that He is your heavenly Father: “He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He” (Deuteronomy 32:4). “The Lord lives! Blessed be my Rock! Let God be exalted, The Rock of my salvation!” (2 Samuel 22:47).
